On behalf of WCBR/USBRC crew, State Parks, all of our sponsors and San Clemente Boardriders as our host, we welcome you to the WCBR The Wheat Cup Championships presented by Sport of Kings and Quiksilver.
Here are the event details so please read.
Day 1 (April 21) Qualifying Round
Santa Barbara, Northern LA, Newport Beach, Oceanside, Carlsbad
(1st place club moves on)
Day 2 (April 22) Finals
Santa Cruz, Huntington Beach, San Clemente, Encinitas and one club from qualifying round
(top 2 advance to US Boardriders National Championships- details to follow)

7:30a captains meeting
8a start 15-19
9:05 start 14/under
10:10 start Womens
11:15a start 50’s
12:20p start 40-49
1:25p start 30-39
2:30p start 20-29
Note: their will be 5 minute breaks between heat, heat duration may change depending on conditions
Format (tag team 4 man roster)
-First heat starts in the water
-Following surfers wait by the buoy until ref releases you
-Last surfer can end heat in the water (no point deductions)
-Each surfer can ride up to 3 waves
-One whammy surfer
-Priority will be utilized

Note: we will go over everything at captains meeting each morning.
Parking
The main Lowers lot will be open to the public from 6a to dusk, parking fee is $20 however each club gets 7 free spots on the day they surf only (please email me names ASAP).
Shuttles
We will have two shuttles running from 6:15a to 3:45p, please take the shuttles whennever you can to lesson the foot traffic across the tracks.
Food
Banzai Bowls will be serving bowls throughout the day
Calienti Southwest Grille will be serving burritos for lunch
Zebra Coffee House will be serving morning fix
Note: Each club will get 30 wristbands and you need to be wearing your band to be served
Forecast
Unfortunately not looking ideal for what we hoped for during our window but there are south pulses on tap mixing in with some small nw swell so it will be very contestable. Hopefully the nw wind/wind swell stays down but looking likely to come up Friday afternoon

WCBR/USBRC Night Activity Schedule hosted by San Clemente Boardriders
We are just a week away from hosting the West Coast Board Riders Wheat Cup Finals and the
inaugural US Board Riders Championships at Lower Trestles. The team is excited to have clubs
from all over the country competing in our backyard at Lower Trestles, next Thursday 4/21-
Saturday 4/23. The teams are set and the surfers are ready to enjoy three full days of
competition down the trail.
The days will be filled with highly competitive surfing, but it’s not just all about putting on the
jersey next week. We have some amazing events that the team has been working on that will
need your support. Kicking off the week will be an event by the Positive Vibe Warriors
foundation x Artifex Brewery and the following night will be a community rally to support Drew
Brophy at his art gallery in town.
Below is a breakdown of the action for the week and we look forward to seeing you all come out
and celebrate a historic week in San Clemente.

The Positive Vibe Warriors “Give Back Brew” Beer Launch Party at The Artifex Brewery
The Positive Vibe Warriors Foundation is excited to share our upcoming PVW Beer launch in
collaboration with Artifex Brewery in San Clemente on Wednesday, April 20th. This is the
Foundation’s second year collaborating with Artifex Brewing Company on the tasty “Give Back
Brew” which donates a portion of each beer sold to the PVW Foundation. This year our goal is
to donate proceeds from beer sales to support the San Clemente Jr Lifeguard program.
Please come out and support the success of this partnership and celebrate the launch of the
Give Back Brew at the Artifex Brewery + Tasting Room. We will have raffle prizes and a
surfboard giveaway for everyone in attendance. We hope to see all of the community and
traveling teams come out and kick off a great week with some good times.

21st. This day will include the second-place teams from each of the WCBR's four
regions along with the "High 3RD Wildcard" from WCBR's four regions. The teams listed
below will battle for 1 spot into the Wheat Cup finals held on Friday.

Drew Brophy Fundraiser Party and Silent Auction at The Brophy Art Gallery
The SCBR Club is hosting a Fundraiser party + Silent Auction for Drew Brophy at the
Brophy Art Gallery. Join us for a fun time celebrating Drew finally being home after 112
days in the hospital. So many of us in the surf community have been positively impacted
by Drew’s amazing art and free loving spirit. Let’s take this time to celebrate Drew’s
progress and help support his family.
A $10 donation to enter (cash please) will go back to the Brophy family. Live music from
Hans and Janine and Drew's good friends Ginger Roots will get the good vibes flowing.
Tacos, libations from 805 beer and tons of great donations from the community to the
silent auction will make for a fun evening. All funds from the night will go back to
supporting the Brophy's business while Drew is still recovering! We appreciate the
continued support from the community and look seeing you all there. For anyone who

The 2022 WCBR Wheat Cup Championship presented by SPORTOFKINGS x Quiksilver
will be held Friday, April 22nd with the first-place clubs from WCBR's four regions along
with the first-place club from the Qualifiers that will make up the field of five clubs.
Please note that the 2022 WCBR Wheat Cup Championships will be run using our
normal 28-person format.

• Each club will field a team of 14 surfers with two in each of the established age groups–
U14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+, Open Women. Please note that women may
compete in their age group or in Open Women, but only one heat per event
• Each heat will be 40-45 minutes in length
• Each surfer may ride a maximum of four waves with the top two waves counting
• There will be one Double Whammy surfer per team per heat
