Our 2023 membership party at Hansen’s Surf Shop was such a success! The sight of our vibrant surf community coming together to support and be a part of the Encinitas Boardriders was a heartwarming event that left us feeling incredibly fortunate to be part of this amazing community.
The enthusiasm and genuine camaraderie brought a unique energy to the gathering that reminded us why we are so passionate about riding waves together. Seeing happy families, seasoned surfers and newcomers alike sharing stories and forging connections was the best part of the event!
We don’t plan on stopping here! The party was just the beginning. We’re excited to let you know that we have more gatherings planned both on and off the beach! Our aim is to strengthen the bond within our surf community and create even more opportunities for everyone to come together, share their love of the ocean and celebrate the Encinitas stoke that unites us all!

Thank you to our sponsors for making our membership party a memorable success. We were fortunate to give away two HUGE scholarships gifted to us from the Danny Kwock Foundation. The proud recipients, Sloan Benshoof and Tyler Traubman won the essay contest that was titled “Tell us how you can use the money educationally”. Both Encinitas Boardriders are college students. Sloan attends SDSU and Tyler is at UC Santa Cruz. Congrats!
Thank you to O’Neill for donating two $200 gift cards to our raffle. We also handed out two awesome surfboards! One was from our one and only Robb Machado and the other one was from our community shaper Valerie Duprat! There were definitely some stoked boardriders heading home with some great prizes!
