The recent WSL Qualifying Series contest in Bathsheba, Barbados, the BTMI Barbados Surf Pro, brought together some of the most talented female surfers, including members of the Encinitas Boardriders Club. Among them were Ella McCaffray, Kaydn Persidok, and Maddie Stanton, who embarked on an unforgettable journey filled with amazing waves, breathtaking scenery, and a vibrant surf culture.
Nestled on the eastern coast of Barbados, Soup Bowl is basically the reason you come to Barbados. The Bowl served as the epicenter of the competition, offering fun yet powerful waves and challenging conditions that tested the skills of every surfer. For the girls from Encinitas, it was a chance to showcase their talent on an international stage, surrounded by the beauty of the Caribbean.
Beyond the competition, Barbados welcomed the surfers with open arms, inviting them to explore its wide variety of experiences. Crystal-clear waters for swimming and snorkeling adventures, revealing colorful marine life beneath the surface. Horseback riding along the pristine beaches provided a unique perspective of the island’s coastal beauty, while surfing new spots allowed for some amazing discoveries beyond Soup Bowl.
The Barbados cuisine tantalized the girls’ taste buds with flavors as vibrant as the local culture. From fresh seafood delicacies to spicy Caribbean specialties, every meal was a culinary adventure. Evenings were spent under the starry sky, sharing stories and forging bonds with fellow surfers from around the world.
Amidst the excitement of the contest and the allure of Barbados’ natural wonders, Ella, Kaydn, and Maddie found themselves immersed in the warmth of friendship and fun. They laughed, they cheered, and they pushed each other to new heights both in and out of the water.
As the sun set on their lengthy Barbados adventure, the memories created will linger on, serving as a testament to the unbreakable bonds forged through a shared love of surfing and exploration. For the girls of the Encinitas Boardriders Club, this trip was more than just a surf competition—it was a celebration of friendship, adventure, and the endless possibilities that await in the world of surfing.
