Last weekend’s West Coast Board Riders Event at Oceanside Pier saw the Encinitas surf community rise up in a display of teamwork, strength, and camaraderie, as the Encinitas Boardriders showcased their depth and community involvement, clinching victory with a come from behind win and bringing home the trophy.
Let’s talk about our rockstar MVP Kaia Howard, with a standout performance showcasing her skills in our Woman’s division. She dropped a 9-point ride and then doubled it with a “whammy” for an insane 18-point total. The Woman’s division win was huge for the team and set the stage for the come from behind victory.
And let’s not forget our boy Nick Marshall in the 20’s division. Nick was on fire and on another level with his airs, pulling off a sick 9.83 aerial in his heat, leading the way for the 20’s division.
But it wasn’t just about individual glory – it was a team effort all the way. We came from behind and clinched the first-place spot after the 20’s division, last heat of the day, sealing the deal and everyone was stoked. Despite the challenging and varying conditions, it was great to see the team rally together, stay focused, and eventually secure first place.
Big shoutout to all of those who showed love and support at the event. You guys are the real MVPs! And major props to the friends, families, organizers, volunteers, and sponsors for making it happen.
